Adam in the Spotlight

Adam Internet raises its voice

Cast the net to be competitive

Christmas treeOpening hours over Christmas holidays

Over the Christmas holiday period there will be some alterations to the call centre operations, office and Business Solutions opening hours.

The Adam Internet call centre and office will be closed on Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th of December, with a call back service in place on Thursday the 27th for any customers that have made inquiries on the 25th and 26th. On Tuesday the 1st of January, 2008 the call centre and office will also be closed, with call back in place on Wednesday the 2nd.

Business Solutions will be closed from 5.30pm on Friday the 21st of December, 2007 and will re-open on Wednesday the 2nd of January, 2008.

We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Kern customer migration

Migration of customers from the older Kern Internet equipment to Adam Internet’s equipment is nearly complete! To help accommodate the arrival of our new customers, the XML feed has been completely rewritten to provide ex-Kern customers with a host of new features and value added services that were previously unavailable.

Ex-Kern customers can access these features through the Adam Internet Members Services Area located [here]

Dispatch of NetComm modems improved

NetComm logoTo improve efficiency and deliver the highest possible level of customer service, Adam Internet has entered into an agreement with NetComm regarding the delivery of hardware for use with Adam Internet broadband services. All NetComm modems / routers purchased through Adam Internet will now be delivered to your door direct from NetComm dispatch, which helps reduce the time it takes for the items to reach you.

In fact, the reduction in delivery time has resulted in the Adam Internet SMS notification system, which informed customers when the modem would arrive, being disabled as the modems / routers were arriving faster than the SMS’s were being sent.

At Adam Internet, we’re always exploring new ways to deliver the best possible customer service we can.

AdamTalk VoIP doing well – 100 customers and growing

AdamTalk VoIP logoAdam Internet’s new AdamTalk Voice over Internet Protocol [VoIP] service was launched on October 4, 2007 with a large number of customers quick on the uptake. In celebration, we sent a small gift to our milestone 100th AdamTalk customer, woodworm. Congratulations!

AdamTalk uses VoIP technology and regular broadband services to significantly cut the cost of your regular phone bill and provide a range of benefits unavailable on fixed home phone lines. For example, you're able to make and receive calls simulataneously when you have two VoIP handsets installed.

AdamTalk starts at $5.00 a month on top of your regular ADSL or ADSL2+ account, which includes $5.00 worth of free local and un-timed national calls charged at just 12 cents per call – that is the equivalent of over 40 included calls per month. International call rates are subject to fluctuation but remain highly competitive even when compared to pre-paid phone cards. Finally, all AdamTalk to AdamTalk telephone calls are free of charge, so the more friends you have using AdamTalk the more you can reduce your phone bill.

For more information on AdamTalk visit www.adam.com/adamtalk

To sign up for AdamTalk now, visit the Adam Internet Members Services Area at http://members.adam.com.au, select the VoIP Account Manager and complete the details.

Adam Internet joins the annual MRASA Toy Run 2007

Toy Run bannerIt’s nearly Christmas once again and we’re proud to announce that Adam Internet will be participating in the annual Motorcycle Riders Association of South Australia [MRASA] Toy Run, helping donate toys to disadvantaged children.

Christmas is a time for fun, festivity and family. However, for whatever reason, some children may not experience the joy of opening a present on Christmas morning. The MRASA Toy Run helps collect and distribute toys to children who would otherwise miss out.

The Toy Run, to be held on Sunday the 9th of December, is expected to attract more than 20,000 motorcyclists and scores of community members, as it winds its way through the streets of Adelaide, travelling from Glenelg to Hahndorf. A convoy of Adam Internet vehicles – including Car ADAM, the company’s roof-racked, gift-packed 2007 SA Variety Bash car - will follow the motorbikes on their journey.

We’re encouraging our customers to donate to this worthwhile cause, which can be done simply through our secure website. Instead of trawling the shops in search of the perfect gift, you can simply log onto the members area of our website – http://members.adam.com.au/toyrun - and make a donation towards the gift of your choice. Alternatively, you can make a donation in person to Level 7 / 117 King William Street, Adelaide.

Last year, the event saw more than $250,000 worth of toys being donated to the St Vincent de Paul Society – with $15,000 of the total gift pool generously provided by Adam Internet and its customers. With your help, we hope to smash that record again this year!

For more information, visit the Adam Internet website at http://members.adam.com.au/toyrun or via the MRASA at www.mrasa.asn.au/html/events/toyrun

The Choices we Make

Life is really quite simply the direct result of the choices that we make.

So when it comes to our health that statement rings very true. Of course our genes have a significant influence over our health. However, perhaps not to the extent that we once thought, lifestyle may play the greatest part in deciding our health, our very longevity, our life itself. To be sick or not to be sick that is the question. It is a decision that we make many times on a daily basis not even realising the consequences of our decisions. When it comes to lifestyle choices what we eat, what we drink, were we live, were we work all play a vital role in our health. Yet for so many of us these daily decisions seem to all fall in the too hard basket.

Does eating more fresh fruits and especially vegetables really make a difference to our health? Does increasing our consumption of insoluble fibre really protect us against bowel and stomach cancers? Does reducing consumption of red meat, lowering your saturated fat, exercising regularly, managing stress, reducing alcohol consumption and not smoking reduce your risk of our biggest killers of Australians - Cancer and Heart Disease? YES, YES, YES!

Eighty five percent of Australians do not consume enough fresh vegetables and over sixty five percent of South Australians are heading towards an early grave due to poor lifestyle choices. Add to that, up to sixty percent of all cancers are lifestyle and environmentally related. There are a lot of statistics; they are so in simple terms. When you down that next can of cola and finish off that bag of chips or add that boiled water to that polystyrene container of dehydrated noodles then spare a thought for your poor long suffering body, having to process chemical cocktails of additives and preservatives, and what’s more some even call it food!
